When packing for a trip, think about what can be worn more than once. You can change up the outfit that you use with a jacket or shoes. Using an item multiple times for different outfits can cut down on the number of different pieces you need to pack.

When you make travel plans, thinking ahead is important, so do not forget about the weather. By using available weather forecasting sites, you can determine projected weather conditions at your destination. Having a weather-sensitive vacation like a beach or ski trip ruined because of a random weather event would be a miserable experience.

If you are planning to fly with gifts, be sure that you do not wrap them before flight. The TSA may need to inspect your packages, which would necessitate unwrapping the gifts. Instead, wait until you get to your destination to wrap the gift.

Before you set off on a trip outside of the country, purchase an electrical adapter or voltage converter from a discount electronics store. If you wait until you get to the airport to buy one, know that you will pay a huge traveler’s markup.

Be vigilant when dealing with local police or other officials, in case they’re not who they claim to be, but instead are imposters. Do not let anyone have your passport unless you are sure they are legitimate. If they are insistent about detaining you, ask to walk to the office. Do not get rides with strangers.

Bringing your own bottled water to countries with dubious water supplies is recommended. Many countries do not purify their drinking water and this water can cause many different illnesses. Use bottled water any time you need water such as when you brush your teeth. You can also become ill from tap water.

Remember that many of the stories where a travel experience went wrong was because people did not prepare themselves enough. If you follow the tips given in this article, you should be able to plan a better vacation.
