When traveling overseas, it is extremely important to ensure you have the correct visas. Remember that there are several types of visas; you must do your research to determine if you will be allowed into the country you want to visit. Your travel agent may have current information. Try getting in a big workout before you board the plane. Multi-hour flights can take a lot out of you. Remaining in a stationary position can cause stiff muscles and cramps. If a workout is out of the question, then at least do a little stretching before you board.

Take an extra pair of eyeglasses with you on vacation if you depend on them. This is so you have another pair, should your other ones break. It is important to keep the extra glasses out of your carry on bag or your purse. These bags could easily be stolen and you would be left without a spare pair of glasses.

Select a pair of shoes you will comfortable in and can remove easily for air travel. When you go through security checks, you will be required to take them off. It is important to be comfortable. Although you can end up walking a lot, you will also end up sitting a lot, so shoes will full coverage and support aren’t required. Sandals and flip-flops are best for traveling.

Do not forget to exchange your cash for that of the local country before starting your trip. Changing your money in foreign countries can be difficult, especially if it is outside of normal business hours. You should go to your bank and ask about foreign currencies, or go to a change agency before your trip.

Make sure that you have clothespins with you on your next vacation. Clothespins are not a typical travel item for many people, but should be reconsidered given their usefulness and versatility.

Make sure you don’t fall asleep before eight pm so you can adjust faster to a different time zone. Going to bed too much earlier than normal will just make your jet lag last longer, as your body remains committed to the old time zone. The faster you adjust to the local time, the faster you will get over jet lag.

It is important that all children that you travel with have proper identification that they carry with them. Each child should have enough money on hand to make a call from a payphone if it becomes necessary. Make sure you have recent pictures of your child, and know his or her height and weight.

Make a packing list. Create this list either a few months to a week before your trip. However, even when packing at the very last second, this list will assist you in staying organized, and you can avoid any excess clutter.

Long trips provide a great reason to pack up your music collection, load it in the car and enjoy your favorite songs along the way. Radio coverage varies wildly as you travel in and out of range and having your own music is the best solution.
